The Solomon Islands National University (SINU) Taekwondo Club successfully conducted its second grading promotion test for the year on Wednesday 24 September 2025, marking a significant milestone in the clubโs growth and development.
A total of seventy students participated in the grading test, which was held at the SINU Kukum Campus Hall.
According to SINU Taekwondo Club Head Instructor, Mr. Wilson Saeni, all participating students have met the required standards and were promoted to their next respective belt levels.
Mr. Saeni described the grading as historic, noting that it recorded the largest number of students to be graded since the clubโs establishment in February this year.
โOnly forty students were graded during our first promotion test in June. This latest test saw an increase of thirty more students, which shows that our club is growing and attracting more young people to martial arts,โ Mr. Saeni said.
The grading was conducted by Mr. Saeni with the assistance of his two assistant instructors, Mr. Joel Sale and Mr. David Sulumae.
The event was also attended by Master John Alick, a well-known figure in the Taekwondo community, who witnessed the proceedings and officiated the presentation of certificates and belts.
Master Alick congratulated the club on this milestone, commending the students for their discipline and enthusiasm.
โSINU Taekwondo is doing exceptionally well, and Iโm impressed by the level of potential among these young students. I encourage the club to continue engaging youth in martial arts, a sport that teaches self-control, discipline, and respect,โ he said.
Mr. Saeni also took the opportunity to thank the parents and guardians for their continuous support, which he said has been instrumental in helping students progress in their martial arts journey.
The SINU Taekwondo Club is part of the Universityโs Campus Life Program, established to promote a healthy and active lifestyle among students through sports and fitness.
