Unit Title: Fisheries Governance & Cooperatives
The Fisheries Governance & Cooperatives Unit is designed purposely to enhance studentsβ understanding and appreciation of the concepts of governance in the fisheries sector. Topics covered in this Unit include; governance terminologies, governance in the fisheries and aquaculture sectors; modes of governance with examples; historical developments of governance in fisheries; and fisheries cooperatives as a form of self-governance. Through selected case studies students are given the opportunity to learn comparative arrangements of applied governance concepts and fisheries cooperative organizations in the Solomon Islands and globally.
