In his address, Prof. Aqorau warmly welcomed both new and continuing students, along with the faculty staff, as they commence their journey in the 2024 academic year.

β€œTo our returning students, welcome back! Your dedication and perseverance in pursuing higher education are commendable.”

β€œYou are the backbone of our academic community, and your experiences and insights enrich our collective learning environment.”

β€œTo our new students, a special welcome! You are embarking on an exciting and transformative journey.”

β€œAs you join our academic family, know that you are stepping into a realm of endless possibilities, where your dreams and aspirations can take shape and flourish.”

In his key note address, the SINU VC reminded students of the important role that the faculty plays in shaping the future leaders of the country and its significant contribution as the building blocks of the country’s economy.

β€œThe Faculty of Business and Tourism Studies is a cornerstone of our university, playing a pivotal role in shaping the future leaders of our nation.”

β€œThe programs and courses offered here, encompassing administration, finance, banking, economics, entrepreneurship, accounting, hospitality, and culinary arts, are not just academic disciplines; they are the building blocks of our society and economy.”

β€œEach of these areas is crucial to the development and prosperity of the Solomon Islands, contributing to a more robust and resilient economy.”

β€œThe importance of this faculty extends beyond the confines of our university.”

β€œIt is a beacon of hope and progress for our nation.”

β€œBy equipping our students with knowledge and skills in these critical fields, we are laying the foundation for a brighter and more prosperous future for the Solomon Islands.”

The VC also reminded students and staff of the evolving landscape of business and tourism which demands innovative thinkers, adaptable leaders and ethical professionals who can navigate the complexities of a globalized world.

The Vice-Chancellor believes that the skills essential for success in the future encompass critical thinking, creativity, technological proficiency, and a profound comprehension of sustainability and ethical practices. He emphasized the faculty’s dedication to assisting students in acquiring these essential skills.

β€œOur curriculum is designed to not only provide you with theoretical knowledge but also practical experiences that will prepare you for the challenges and opportunities of the future.”

β€œWe encourage you to take advantage of the resources available to you, engage in experiential learning opportunities, and actively participate in the vibrant community of scholars and practitioners that make up this faculty.”

The VC also encouraged faculty staff to lead by example in shaping the minds and futures of the students with great determination and dedication.

β€œEach day, you have the opportunity to inspire, to mentor, and to make a lasting impact on the lives of those who look up to you.”

β€œYour knowledge, your experience, and your commitment are the pillars upon which our students build their dreams.”

β€œLet us continue to foster an environment of learning and growth, where every student feels supported and empowered.”

β€œAs we impart our wisdom, let us also remain open to the lessons our students teach us, for in the journey of education, we are all learners.”

Remember the words of William Arthur Ward: “The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.” Let us strive to be great teachers, inspiring our students to reach for the stars and to believe in the power of their own potential. Together, we can shape a brighter future, not just for our students, but for the world.

β€œI urge you all to embrace this journey with an open mind and a determined spirit.”

β€œThe path ahead is filled with opportunities for growth, learning, and contribution.”

β€œTogether, let us strive to make a positive impact on our nation and the world through the pursuit of excellence in business and tourism.”

β€œAs your Vice Chancellor, I want to assure you that I am committed to supporting each and every one of you, every step of the way.”

β€œYour success is our success, and I am dedicated to providing the resources, guidance, and encouragement you need to achieve your goals.”

To conclude, with such guidance, both students and faculty staff are well-prepared for the semester ahead.
