The Executive Governance Committee (EGC) of the Solomon Islands National University (SINU) Council held its second meeting today, 21 October 2026, to deliberate on key governance matters and provide recommendations to the University Council on matters relating to institutional governance, accountability, leadership appointments and the University’s strategic direction.

The meeting provided an opportunity for Committee members to consider governance policies and frameworks aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability, effective oversight and good governance practices across the University.

The Committee discussed matters relating to the governance and performance evaluation of Council members, as well as the appointment of Council members and senior University office holders. These discussions focused on promoting transparent processes, clear accountability arrangements and alignment with the SINU Act and the University’s governance framework.

The Committee also considered other institutional matters requiring coordination between the University’s governance bodies and management, including developments relating to higher education policy and the University’s financial sustainability.

The EGC reaffirmed the importance of sound governance, constructive deliberation and effective oversight in supporting SINU’s institutional objectives and its commitment to delivering quality higher education for the people of Solomon Islands.

Matters requiring further consideration and formal approval will be progressed through the appropriate University governance processes.

The University remains committed to strengthening its governance systems, maintaining institutional accountability and ensuring that its decisions and policies support its strategic priorities and long-term sustainability.
