Unit TitleConservation Biology

Welcome to this course BI0701 Conservation Biology. In this course, we will explore approaches to minimise and control the damage we are have and continue to create to other species, communities, ecosystems and our planet. We begin our understanding of the science conservation with an understanding of natural patterns in biological diversity, and then look at the human impacts on the natural world through over-exploitation, habitat destruction, population declines, extinctions, invasions of exotic and non-native species and climate change. We will then look at approaches and tools to mitigate these problems, including designing networks of nature reserves, economic incentives, habitat restoration and climate adaptation.
