The Solomon Islands National University (SINU) was represented by Elizabeth Adifaka and Maureen Qaqara at a governance training programme held in the Peopleβs Republic of China from 15 to 24 September 2026.
The training provided an opportunity for the two SINU staff members to strengthen their knowledge and understanding of effective governance, institutional accountability, risk management, digital governance, human capital development and organisational performance.
A key focus of the programme was the importance of ensuring that institutional policies and structures are effectively implemented and supported by clear responsibilities, monitoring, accountability and continuous improvement.
The programme also explored strengthening university-wide risk management, connecting strategic planning with operational implementation, improving internal controls and assurance systems, and promoting responsible use of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence.
The training further highlighted the important role of education, skills development and human capital in supporting institutional and national development.
The knowledge and insights gained through the programme will contribute to ongoing efforts to strengthen governance and institutional effectiveness at SINU.
SINU acknowledges and appreciates the Peopleβs Republic of China for providing this valuable opportunity for professional development, knowledge exchange and capacity building.
