The Physical Resource Committee (PRC), a subcommittee of the Solomon Islands National University (SINU) Council, met on 25 August 2026 to review key matters relating to the University’s land, infrastructure, physical development, information technology and resource management.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the Committee to receive progress updates, consider recommendations and provide direction on strategic matters affecting SINU’s campuses, facilities and institutional development.
The Committee reviewed the management and development of SINU’s land and physical assets, ongoing infrastructure and rehabilitation projects, campus development planning, public-private partnership arrangements and broader resource management priorities.
It also received updates on major projects being implemented at the Kukum and Poitete campuses, including initiatives aimed at improving teaching and learning facilities, campus infrastructure and the overall environment for students and staff.
The PRC further considered updates on SINU’s digital transformation initiatives, including efforts to strengthen information technology systems to support administration, financial management, communication and service delivery.
During its deliberations, the Committee emphasised the importance of sound planning, good governance, accountability, prudent financial and risk management, and compliance with relevant laws, policies and University procedures.
It also stressed that major development initiatives must remain aligned with SINU’s strategic priorities and physical development plans, with appropriate consultation and approvals undertaken before implementation. Matters requiring further consideration or approval by the SINU Council or relevant government authorities will continue to be progressed through the appropriate institutional and statutory processes.
The PRC’s deliberations form part of the Council’s broader oversight of SINU’s physical resources, infrastructure and development priorities. The Committee reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the responsible and sustainable development of the University’s campuses and resources in the best interests of SINU, its students, staff and the wider Solomon Islands community.
