SINU AND PASIFIKI HR PARTNER TO STRENGTHEN EMPLOYMENT PATHWAYS FOR STUDENTS AND GRADUATES

PRESS RELEASE

Solomon Islands National University (SINU) and Pasifiki HR last Thursday formalised a strategic partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at enhancing student employability, supporting workforce readiness, and strengthening connections between higher education and industry.

The agreement was signed by SINU Acting Vice-Chancellor, Associate Professor Eric Katovai, and Pasifiki HR Director, Caleb Pollard.

The partnership will provide opportunities for internships, graduate recruitment pathways, career readiness training, and collaboration on workforce development initiatives. It will also facilitate information sharing on labour market trends and employment opportunities to better prepare students for the world of work.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Associate Professor Katovai welcomed the partnership, highlighting its importance in supporting the growing number of SINU graduates entering the workforce each year.

“While opportunities exist, connecting our students and graduates to those opportunities can often be a challenge. This partnership provides a more structured way of supporting our students as they transition from education into employment,” he said.

Associate Professor Katovai acknowledged Pasifiki HR for its initiative in engaging with the University and expressed confidence that the collaboration would strengthen industry linkages and create greater awareness of career opportunities available to students and graduates.

Pasifiki HR Director Caleb Pollard said the partnership reflects the organisation’s commitment to helping Solomon Islanders find meaningful employment and creating stronger links between education and industry.

“Education is important, but the real question is what it leads to. Our goal is to ensure that education translates into meaningful opportunities, purposeful careers, and sustainable employment for our graduates,” Mr Pollard said.

He noted that Pasifiki HR is committed to moving beyond traditional job advertising by creating more structured pathways that connect employers directly with qualified graduates and emerging talent.

Under the three-year agreement, the two organisations will work together to facilitate internship opportunities, support recruitment pathways for high-performing students, provide CV writing and interview skills training, promote job creation opportunities, and collaborate on research related to labour market trends and workforce development in Solomon Islands.

The partnership reflects both organisations’ shared commitment to developing a skilled workforce and supporting young Solomon Islanders in their transition from education to employment.
