PRESS RELEASE
TUESDAY 5 MAY 2026
The Solomon Islands National University (SINU) yesterday signed a Service Level Agreement (SLA) with SATSOL Limited to enhance digital connectivity across its campuses and remote learning centres.
The three-year agreement (May 2026 โ May 2029) will deliver a comprehensive suite of services, including remote connectivity solutions, a failover secondary microwave link, and dedicated dark fibre connectivity to support the Universityโs growing digital infrastructure.
Through this partnership, SINU will significantly improve internet access across its six remote centres Noro, Buala, Gizo, Maluโu, Kirakira, and Poitete ensuring more reliable and inclusive access to learning for students in provincial and remote locations.
The agreement also provides for a high-capacity secondary microwave link between SINUโs Kukum Campus and the SIG ICT Data Centre at Lengakiki, enhancing network resilience and ensuring continuity of services.
In addition, a dedicated dark fibre connection will support SINUโs data centre operations with secure, high-speed connectivity.
SINU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Transform Aqorau, said the partnership represents a major step forward in strengthening the Universityโs digital transformation agenda.
โThis agreement is a significant milestone for SINU as we continue to expand access to quality education across the Solomon Islands. Reliable connectivity is critical to delivering flexible learning and ensuring that our students, regardless of location, have equal opportunities to succeed. Through this partnership with SATSOL, we are strengthening our infrastructure to better support teaching, learning, and research in a digital age.โ
SATSOL Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Pawel Smalinski, said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to advancing digital connectivity in support of education across the Solomon Islands.
โThis agreement represents an important step in enabling more reliable and inclusive access to learning for students across SINUโs campuses and remote centres. We are extremely pleased to contribute to strengthening the digital infrastructure that supports teaching, learning, and active student participation in online environments.
At SATSOL, we maintain a constant focus on innovation and the delivery of high-quality, resilient technology solutions. We see this partnership not only as a service commitment, but as a collaborative effort to support SINUโs ongoing digital transformation and long-term connectivity needs.
Importantly, we view this as the beginning of a broader journey. We are committed to exploring and supporting further initiatives that will continue to strengthen digital inclusion and expand access to online learning across more communities and islands, contributing to sustainable development in the education sector.โ
The agreement outlines clear service performance standards, including high uptime targets, defined response times, and 24/7 monitoring and technical support to ensure consistent and reliable service delivery.
This partnership reflects SINUโs continued efforts to strengthen its digital capabilities and expand access to education through improved infrastructure and strategic collaboration.
