The Solomon Islands National University (SINU), in collaboration with the Pasifika Communities University (PCU), is pleased to announce it will host a landmark Symposium Side Event during the Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting.

The event is scheduled for Thursday, 11th September 2025, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Aquatic Centre, Sport City Complex, Honiara.

Held under the theme โ€œNetweaving the Soul of Pacific Development,โ€ the symposium will invite Pacific thinkers, leaders, and citizens to reflect on a profound and timely question:
โ€œWhere is our Pacific development soul?โ€

This question speaks to the regionโ€™s collective development journey over the past 60 years, and the search for deeper meaning and purpose in shaping the Pacificโ€™s future.

The high-level gathering will feature keynote addresses and discussions by distinguished leaders and experts from across the Pacific, alongside women and youth representatives offering grassroots and intergenerational perspectives. The final line-up of panellists will be released in due course.

This symposium is not just a discussion. It is a call to awaken our collective Pacific consciousness โ€” to remember, reclaim, and reweave the deeper purpose of our development journey, with Pasifika philosophy and ethics-based leadership at its core.

A special invitation is extended to students, academics, policymakers, civil society, church leaders, development partners, and all members of the public who care about the Pacificโ€™s future.

The event will feature:

  • Intergenerational and intersectoral dialogue
  • Cultural reflection and performances
  • Practical insights on how Pacific values can guide future development strategies
