The Faculty of Education and Humanities (FEH) at Solomon Islands National University (SINU) proudly hosted a vibrant showcase today, highlighting the talents of Year 2 Home Economics students from the Apparel Design and Flat Pattern Making unit (HEC602).

Held at the FEH New Complex Balcony, the runway event was a celebration of creativity and self-expression under the theme “Design in Harmony with Nature.” Students presented their original designs in a lively fashion show that not only displayed their technical skills and innovation but also boosted their confidence and allowed them to express their individuality through fashion.

The showcase served as more than just a visual exhibition—it was a platform for empowerment. By walking the runway in garments, they designed and created themselves, students embraced their artistic vision and reinforced the importance of personal expression in education.

A highlight of the event was the participation of a male student who confidently modelled his above-the-knee Sulu, promoting inclusivity in design and challenging traditional gender norms in the field of Home Economics.

Faculty members, students, and university staff—including the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Patricia Rodie—came together to support and celebrate the achievements of the young designers. Their presence contributed to a memorable event filled with encouragement, inspiration, and a shared sense of accomplishment.

This showcase marked a significant milestone in the students’ academic journey, fostering both professional growth and personal empowerment.
