The Solomon Islands National University (SINU) has signed a service agreement with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Labour and Immigration (MCILI) to host the 2025 Annual National Trade Fair (ANTF), themed โ€œTrade for Transformation โ€“ Rebuilding Our Happy Isles.โ€

For SINU, this partnership is a meaningful step in supporting the revival of national trade activities, with the 2025 Trade Fair being the first event of its kind since 2014. It presents an important opportunity to showcase local talent, promote Solomon Islands-made products, and strengthen connections across business, culture, and creativity.

The official signing of the service agreement took place last Friday between the 2025 ANTF Steering Committee and SINU. The agreement confirms the use of the SINU Village grounds as the official venue for the event.

Dr. William Parairato, SINUโ€™s Pro Vice-Chancellor (Corporate), expressed the universityโ€™s excitement for the collaboration.

โ€œSINU is pleased to work with MCILI and the 2025 ANTF Steering Committee to help make this national event a success. As the national university, we see this as a chance to connect education and innovation with real economic activities. By providing our SINU Village venue, we show our ongoing support for national development through skills training, business, and inclusive growth,โ€ said Dr. Parairato.

Mr. Simon Chottu, Vice Chairman of the 2025 ANTF Steering Committee, welcomed the collaboration and emphasised its economic importance.

โ€œThe return of the National Trade Fair is a major step forward in revitalising our local economy. We are grateful to the GNUT Government for prioritising the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and for supporting this vital national platform. We also acknowledge SINU for its partnership and look forward to a successful and impactful event,โ€ Mr. Chottu said.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Parairato on behalf of SINU, and Mr. Hunter Masuguria, Deputy Secretary for Administration and Planning, representing the Solomon Islands Government. The signing was witnessed by representatives from both parties.

SINU is proud to play a key role in this national initiative and looks forward to contributing to a successful and transformative trade fair in 2025.
