Lovelyn Kins Matawakeni Otoiasi
Head of Department | Lecturer

Lovelyn Otoiasi attained her Master’s Degree in Urban Planning and Regional Development from the University of Seoul, South Korea and a BA degree in Land Use Planning and Geography from the University of the South Pacific, Fiji. Before joining the Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, she worked with the Ministry of Lands, Housing, and Survey from the year 2012 to 2018. She was also a member of the task force for The β€œGreater Honiara Urban Development Strategy and Action Plan” (GHUDSAP). At present, she is a lecturer and Head of the Environment Department at the Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries

Mary Tahu
Lecturer

Mary Tahu Paia is a Lecturer in Climate Change and Biodiversity Conservation at the Solomon Islands National University (SINU). She is currently a Ph.D. candidate at SINU researching the role of mangrove biomass and rates of decomposition in supporting climate change adaptation in Marovo Lagoon. Before SINU, Mary worked with the World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF) in Ghizo Island, Western Solomon Islands, and conducted climate change awareness in schools and communities. She has a Master of Science in Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Development from the University of the West Indies, Trinidad, and a Master of Science in Climate Change and a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies from the University of the South Pacific, Fiji.

Moses Asitarau
Lecturer

Moses attained his Postgraduate Diploma in Climate Change and Bachelor of Science in Marine Science from the University of the South Pacific (USP), Fiji.  Before joining SINU, he worked as a Coordinator for USP Foundation Programs and taught Preliminary Mathematics at the University of the South Pacific Solomon Islands Campus in 2011. In 2012, he joined the Pacific Centre for Environment and Sustainable Development & European Union Global Climate Change Alliance Project (PACE-SD & EU-GCCA) with USP, as an In-Country Coordinator in the Solomon Islands. Currently, he is a lecturer at the Department of Environmental Studies at the Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Solomon Islands National University.

George Horoasia
Acting Dean | Lecturer

George Horoasia is a graduate with a BSc from the University of the South Pacific, Fiji. He also graduated with a diploma in science teaching from the Solomon Islands National University (SINU). Before joining the faculty of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (FAFF), he has been working with Sumitomo Metal Mining Company (SMM Ltd) in Choiseul and Isabel as an Environmental Liaison and Monitoring officer. Currently, he is teaching Solid Waste Management and EIA for the Diploma program in the Environment Department and the Acting Dean for the Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries.
