About the Briefing Series

Established in 2026, the Security Briefing Series is intended as a research dissemination outlet, publishing briefing papers, opinion pieces, and blog-style outputs that engage with contemporary security challenges, with a particular focus on the Pacific region. The series provides an accessible platform for timely, policy-relevant analysis that bridges academic research, practitioner insight, and real-world application.

Briefing papers are typically 2,000 words in length and are designed to present concise, evidence-informed analysis on pressing issues. Submissions may explore a wide range of themes, including (but not limited to) political security, human security, environmental change, transnational crime, governance and justice. Contributions should aim to inform policy, support practice, and stimulate critical dialogue across sectors.

The series is guided and overseen by a six-member advisory committee comprising local Solomon Islander experts from both academic and public service sectors. This structure ensures that the series remains contextually grounded, policy-relevant, and responsive to national and regional priorities.

We welcome submissions from academics, practitioners, policymakers, and other stakeholders with expertise or experience relevant to the region. The series is committed to amplifying diverse perspectives, including voices from within Pacific Island countries, and fostering collaborative knowledge production.

All submissions are subject to an editorial review process to ensure clarity, relevance, and quality. Authors are encouraged to consult the guideline documents for detailed information on submission requirements, formatting, and review processes prior to submitting their paper.
