Unit Title: Agroforestry

The unit focuses on the principles for managing agroforestry systems and land use which covers the following instructional areas: enhance crop and livestock productivity and resilience, be able to provide assistance to community groups to engage in agroforestry, which provides for their daily livelihood, and contribute to sustainable forest management, the concept of multiple land use, and factors influencing the integration of land use, outlining the impact of forestry on-site hydrology and water management, discuss the present and potential impacts of pollution on forestry, and the economic aspects of forestry as land use, explain how trees can be used in the management of land, explain biodiversity strategies to enhance habitat for specified animals, explain sustainability and impact on land use and outline the management of natural production forests.
