Unit Title: Dendrology

The unit introduces the students in forest botany and dendrology on the basic knowledge which covers the following instructional areas: identification of the physiology of plants; describe the growth requirements of plants, and the reproduction system of angiosperms and gymnosperms; outline the process of plant propagation in commercial forestry; use the taxonomy system for the classification of plants; provide the skills needed to identify common plant species in the forest, especially plants which are of economic and ecological importance, outline plant species important to Solomon Islands forestry; and explain the beneficial symbiotic relationships utilized in forestry, focusing on the taxonomy and identification of forest species, and ecologically important tree species of Solomon Islands.
